The Boston Bruins have re-acquired their own fourth round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for the free agent rights to center Yan Stastny, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell. The Oilers had acquired Boston’s 2006 fourth round draft pick in the August 1st trade in which the Bruins obtained Brad Isbister.
Stastny, 22, was Boston’s sixth pick (eighth round), 259th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The 5’11”, 175 lb. restricted free agent played two seasons of college hockey at the University of Notre Dame in 2001-02 and 2002-03 before leaving school to play hockey in Europe. He has played the last two seasons with Nurnberg in the German Elite League and last season finished fourth overall in that league’s scoring race with 24-30=54 totals in 51 games.
