Bruins charity golf tournament a success
The Boston Bruins Foundation hosted their 2nd Annual Boston Bruins Golf Tournament at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth on Wednesday, August 24, benefitting the Boston Bruins Foundation and the Boston Bruins Alumni Association.

The 300 participants included a range of hockey and golf enthusiasts, who were separated into foursomes and teamed up with a celebrity guest. Celebrity guests ranged from Boston Bruins alumni Ray Bourque, Terry O'Reilly, Brad Park, Gerry Cheevers, Ken Hodge and Derek Sanderson to current players including Brian Leetch, Brad Boyes and Ian Moran. Other celebrities included NESN's Tom Caron and Hazel Mae and ESPN's John Buccigross.

Before heading out to the courses, the golfers congregated at the Pinehills clubhouse where they mingled with Bruins alumni, players, management and local celebrities. Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs addressed the crowd and acknowledged the importance of both the Foundation's mission statements, to enhance the quality of life for children in the community. Participants also had the opportunity to have their photography taken with another high-profile guest, the Stanley Cup that was in attendance with Bruins great, Milt Schmidt.

As the shotgun was announced, the approximate 60 foursomes boarded their carts and headed to their assigned course, parade style. While on the courses, golfers had the opportunity to purchase Boston Bruins Foundation wristbands, Mulligans and raffle tickets. As the skies began to turn gray, participants kept their fingers crossed that the weather would hold until everyone finished their round. To everyone's astonishment, the clouds broke and everyone returned to the clubhouse dry and happy.

After the Golf Tournament, participants enjoyed cocktails and had the opportunity to bid on over forty live and silent auction items. The bidding was fast and furious over items that included a trip to New York with a walk-on role on the FX series "Rescue Me," a trip for two to attend Cam Neely's induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame and an opportunity to fly with the team to Montreal as they face the Montreal Canadiens.

Good weather and great participants attributed to the success of the tournament, which will mark the second of many to come.
