BOSTON, MA - On Wednesday, April 8, Bruins defenseman Aaron Ward is teaming up with WBCN 104.1 to host the second annual "Cuts for a Cause" to benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation and MassGeneral Hospital for Children’s Pediatric Oncology Unit from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at The Harp (85 Causeway Street, Boston, MA 02114).

Thirteen members of the current Boston Bruins roster including Aaron Ward, Patrice Bergeron, Byron Bitz, Matt Hunwick, Phil Kessel, Chuck Kobasew, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Michael Ryder, Mark Stuart, Tim Thomas, Blake Wheeler and Dennis Wideman will have their heads shaved by auction winners on stage, in front of fans to show their support and raise money for children battling cancer.

"Last year, Cuts for a Cause made a substantial contribution towards the fight against cancer," said Ward.  "Like our hockey team, we look to improve on our results each year. With the help of WBCN, the Boston Bruins Foundation, Mass General Hospital, my teammates and our fans, we hope to have an even greater impact on the fight against cancer at this year's event."

Fans can support the event, which will be hosted by Fred "Toucher" Toettcher and Rich Shertenlieb of the Toucher & Rich show on WBCN, by purchasing a ticket to the event or by bidding on the opportunity to shave one of the Bruins player’s heads.

Tickets to the event can be purchased for $20 at www.wbcn.com, and the auction for head-shavers will be held during a Toucher and Rich broadcast between now and April 8. The top bidders will win the opportunity to shave the head of a Boston Bruins player on stage at "Cuts for a Cause".

The admission ticket includes the chance for fans to meet the team throughout the afternoon, food will be provided by the Harp and raffle tickets to win autographed Boston Bruins memorabilia will be given out at the door. Depending on availability, tickets will be available at the door the day of the event.

All of the money raised though the event will be donated through the Boston Bruins Foundation and will benefit MassGeneral Hospital for Children.

In addition to the Bruins players, Dr. Howard Weinstein, Chief of Pediatric Oncology at MassGeneral Hospital for Children will also take the stage to have his head shaved by one of his current patients. April 1, 2009 marked 13 years that Dr. Weinstein has been the head of the Pediatric Oncology unit at Mass General.

Bruins fans who are not able to attend the event on April 8, but are looking to support "Cuts for a Cause", will also have the opportunity to relax and get a massage during the Bruins/Rangers game on April 4 at the TD Banknorth Garden for a small donation.  For $5 fans will get a five-minute chair massage from the girls of the Knock Outs Salon. The massages will be given in the Comcast High-Def Zone beginning at 6:00 p.m. and will be offered through the second intermission.
