B's Recall Forward Nick Johnson an an Emergency Basis

The B's have recalled winger Nick Johnson from the Providence on an emergency basis.

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, December 31, that the team has recalled forward Nick Johnson from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League) on an emergency basis. Johnson will join the team Tuesday and be eligible for Tuesday night's game against the New York Islanders at TD Garden.

Johnson has skated in a total of eight games with Boston this season and has registered seven shots on goal. The winger made his Bruins debut on December 10 against the Flames in Calgary.

Johnson has appeared in 24 games with Providence this year, notching 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points with a plus-seven rating.

The winger has appeared in a total of 207 games at the AHL level, racking up 64 goals and 79 assists with a combined plus-51 rating.

The forward has 112 games of NHL experience, skating in 17 games win the Phoenix Coyotes (2012-13), 77 games with the Minnesota Wild (2011-12), 10 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2009-2011) and eight with the Boston Bruins (2013). In total, Johnson has accrued 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points at the NHL level.

The 6’2’’, 200-pound native of Calgary, Alberta was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round (67th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. The Boston Bruins signed Johnson as a free agent on July 5, 2013.
