BRUINS ACQUIRE JAGR FROM DALLAS: Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, April 2, that the club has acquired forward Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars in exchange for forward Lane MacDermid, the rights to unsigned draft pick Cody Payne and a conditional second round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The 2013 second round pick will become a 2013 first round pick if the Bruins advance to the Eastern Conference finals during the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jagr will wear #68 and is scheduled to join the Bruins on Wednesday, April 3.
CEREMONIAL PUCK DROP: Victoria Arlen of Exeter, NH is an 18-year-old paralympic swimmer who, at age 11, lost the use of her legs due to a rare viral disease called transverse myelitis. The disease left Arlen in a coma for nearly two years. Upon her recovery, she began playing sled hockey and was named to the 2011 Women's National Team. Arlen's sled hockey success is what drove her to get back in the pool, and last year she traveled to London for the 2012 Paralympic Games where she won three silver medals and one gold medal, and set a world record time in the 100-meter freestyle event. Arlen is a passionate, lifelong Boston Bruins fan, and one of her childhood dreams was to someday drop the puck at Bruins home game.
BRUINS VS SENATORS LIFETIME: The Bruins and Senators will meet for the 116th time tonight with the B’s holding a 68-32-8-7 record with a 367-283 scoring advantage in those games. Boston is 35-17-5-1 in 58 games at home against Ottawa with a 194-148 scoring edge. In their last 13 games against the Senators, Boston is 12-1-0, with their last loss coming on February 28, 2012 where the B’s fell 1-0. 20 B’S PARTICPATE IN CUTS FOR A CAUSE: Yesterday, 20 Bruins spent their off day participating in the sixth annual Cuts for a Cause to benefit the Shawn Thornton Foundation, Bruins Foundation and the Floating Hospital at Tufts Medical Center. The sold-out event saw record success, raising $76,000, topping last years total, which generated $58,123.15.
