STATS YOU MAY FIND INTERESTING…

BERGERON BURNING UP: Patrice Bergeron earned his sixth multi-point night of the season with the three points (1-2=3) he potted on Thursday against the Maple Leafs. Bergeron now has 3-7=10 totals in five of his last six games and 4-10=14 totals in seven of his last nine contests. On March 4, Bergeron earned the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for the week of Feb. 25 to March 1.

ORIGINAL SIX SUCCESS: Courtesy of the NHL’s midpoint March news release, all of the NHL’s original six teams – Boston Bruins (15-3-3), Chicago Blackhawks (21-0-3), Detroit Red Wings (12-8-4), Montreal Canadiens (15-5-4) New York Rangers (12-8-2), and the Toronto Maple Leafs (15-10-0) – currently hold playoff spots and have a combined record of 90-34-16. The last time all six teams have qualified for the playoffs in the same season was in 1995-96.

APPROACHING MILESTONES: Bruins Captain, Zdeno Chara, is expected to play in his 500th career game in a B’s uniform this week as he currently sitting at 498 games. For his NHL career, Chara has appeared in 1,028 regular season games and 107 playoff games between the Bruins, Senators and Islanders. Forward David Krejci is two games shy his 400th NHL game, all of which have been in a Bruins sweater… Head Coach Claude Julien needs just two wins to tie Milt Schmidt (who recently turned 95 years old on March 5) on the Boston Bruins all-time wins list.

BERGERON-MARCHAND-SEGUIN LINE: The Bruins trio producing the most combined points this season thus far is the line composed of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and Tyler Seguin. Over their last nine games, the three have combined for 37 points (14-23=37) providing leading the Bruins to a 7-1-1 record during that stretch. On the year, the three B’s have combined for a total of 59 points (25-34=59).

B’S BEST SELLERS: The Sports Business Journal announced March 6, that four Bruins are among the top 20 of the best selling jerseys in the NHL for the month of February. B’s Captain Zdeno Chara the led squad ranked 10th, followed by Seguin (13th), Lucic (14th) and Marchand (20th). The Bruins and Penguins (Crosby 3rd, Malkin 6th, Neal 7th, Letang 15th) combined for eight of the 20 players on the list.

95 YEARS YOUNG: On March 5, legendary Boston Bruin and Hall of Famer Milt Schmidt celebrated his 95th birthday and was honored by the B’s before Thursday’s game against the Maple Leafs. Throughout his historic NHL career, Schmidt appeared in 776 games racking up 229 goals and 346 assists for a total of 575 points. In 86 career playoff games, Schmidt tallied 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points, leading the Bruins to two Stanley Cup victories in 1939 and 1941. Schmidt was also a part of two Stanley Cup championships as the General Manager of the Bruins in 1970 and 1972.

BOSTON MEDIA TWEET OF THE WEEK (TOTW): The Boston media “Tweet of the Week” is in its eighth week of the 2012-13 season. Taking home TOTW honors this week and keeping a point-per-month-pace is Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe, with his assessment of the altercation between Marchand and Phaneuf during Thursday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs:

@GlobeFluto: “Marchand, Phaneuf off for roughing. Come on. Seen more rough stuff at kid's gymnastics class”

Here are this week’s honorable mentions, in no particular order:

@TheBruinsBlog: “Has anyone actually seen someone skate with a monkey on his back? I'd assume it would be difficult because the monkey would freak out.”

@GlobeKPD “Other than saving forests, the total benefit of new-age lightweight hockey sticks: ZERO. Or am I being too generous”

@TyAnderson: “Matt Hendricks just got surrounded by Milan Lucic, Adam McQuaid, and Zdeno Chara. I think that's how you lose in NHL13's Be-A-Pro mode.”
