BOSTON, MA – For the fifth consecutive year, members of the Boston Bruins organization will continue the tradition of making Thanksgiving deliveries to homeless shelters, hospitals and community centers throughout Boston. Today, Wednesday, November 21, and on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, members of the Bruins front office and hockey operations staff, along with TD Garden President Amy Latimer, will deliver 400 pies and 400 boxes of cookies to 15 locations. The Boston Bruins Foundation and Garden Neighborhood Charities funded the purchase of the pies from Mike’s Pastry in Boston’s North End and Entenmann’s donated the boxes of cookies.
During the five years of the program, the Bruins’ donations have totaled more than $8,000 worth of Thanksgiving food items, including 1400 pies, 400 boxes of cookies and 160 turkeys.
On Thursday, Thanksgiving deliveries that will be open to the media include the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, St. Francis House and Pine Street Inn. The staff members will also visit Haley House, but the drop-off location will not be open to the press.
The delivery locations on Wednesday include: Boston Rescue Mission, The Home for Little Wanderers, Ronald McDonald House Boston, Temporary Home for Women and Children, Franciscan Hospital for Children, The Neely House, Rosie’s Place, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Patrick Thompson House and Thornton & Naumes House at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Women’s Lunch Place and Barbara McInnis House.
