WATERTOWN, MA - As part of the NHL’s Hockey is for Everyone initiative Bruins forward Chris Kelly and defenseman Andrew Ference visited the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown to participate in a game of Goalball. Goalball is a team sport designed for athletes who are vision impaired. The balls contain embedded bells that allow the athletes to use their audio senses to judge the movement and position of the ball as they attempt to throw it into the opposing team’s goal. Following the game, players will sign autographs and take photos with the students. The NHL's Hockey is for Everyone initiative provides support to developmental ice hockey and street hockey programs as a positive and meaningful outlet for children and young teens to learn, compete, and grow (Photos courtesy Stephanie Sullivan, Perkins Communications).
