TORONTO, ON - The Bruins will be without Loui Eriksson and Chris Kelly for Sunday night's game against the Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.

Eriksson sustained a concussion in Saturday night's game against Pittsburgh at TD Garden, and did not travel with the team to Toronto, as the Bruins begin a four-game road trip through Canada.

Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced on Sunday afternoon that Kelly sustained a fractured right fibula in the second period of Bruins/Penguins game and has been placed on long-term injured reserve. The centerman is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Kelly played the entire game on Saturday night, with his final shift ending with 2:10 left in the third period of the Bruins' eventual 3-2 comeback win. His injury occurred on a slash.

The alternate captain also spent a lengthy time out of the lineup in the shortened 2012-13 campaign, when he suffered a broken left tibia in March that kept him sidelined for a month.

With the two injuries up front, the Bruins recalled forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Fraser from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis.

This marks Spooner's fourth NHL regular season recall. The 21-year-old has two assists in six NHL games with the Bruins. He's skated in 21 games with the Providence Bruins this year, earning five goals and 19 assists (tied for second in the AHL) for 24 points (leads the team) with six penalty minutes.

The recall is Fraser's first as a member of the Bruins, since being acquired this summer in the seven-player trade with Dallas. The 23-year-old has 13 NHL games under his belt, all with the Dallas Stars, recording a goal and two assists. His first NHL goal was assisted by Loui Eriksson.

Fraser has appeared in 23 games with Providence this season, recording 16 goals (ranks second in the AHL) and five assists for 21 points (ranks second on the team) with 23 penalty minutes.

Both Fraser and Spooner joined the team on Sunday in Toronto, and are available to play against the Leafs. It will be their third game in three nights, after they helped the P-Bruins to a pair of victories on Friday and Saturday.

Fraser scored his second hat trick as a P-Bruin in a 7-2 win over the Manchester Monarchs on December 6. Fraser also notched a goal in Providence's 4-3 come-from-behind shootout win over the Worcester Sharks on December 7. Spooner notched a goal in regulation and in the shootout to help them to the win.

Adam McQuaid Placed on IR

Along with the injuries up front, the Bruins are still injured on the back end as well.

Chiarelli also announced on Sunday afternoon that defenseman Adam McQuaid has been placed on injured reserve. The blueliner has been out of the lineup since re-aggravating a lower-body that initially kept him out for two weeks. The Bruins' GM did not announce an estimated timetable for McQuaid's injury. Julien said on Saturday that the defenseman was making the trip with the team and was expected to start skating this week.

The Bruins are also without defenseman Johnny Boychuk, who suffered a back sprain in Montreal on December 5. He will not be playing in Toronto, but his expected recovery time is 3-7 days. The team's plan was to have him travel on the road trip.

With the injuries, Kevan Miller has been filling in on the blueline.
